EER’s Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) provides a library of AI tools and simulators which are not commercially available This center enables EER to develop unique products which are integrated with advanced AI techniques for decision making in real-time for control applications

TECHNOLOGY

EER has developed and is committed to further developing advanced cost effective vision-based products for high-energy-consuming furnaces in various manufacturing industries to improve
energy efficiency and reduce emissions

In a gas fired furnace, the estimated minimum energy savings of 5-10% is achieved in two way:

      1.  Multi-burner balancing and combustion optimization, hence minimizing fuel consumption and
           pollutants emission
      2.  Continuous 3-Dimensional (3-D) wall and crown temperature measurement, hence minimizing
fuel consumption by avoiding operation above minimum possible temperature to accomplish the goal

The temperature non-uniformity within a furnace equates to a substantial waste of energy in any furnace region that is hotter than the minimum set-point temperature.  Eliminating this waste requires capability of accurately measuring and continuous monitoring of the furnace surface wall temperature at every point on the surface or load material surface temperature (in a reheat forging furnace) in 3-D space

Batch-Line Sensor:  The batch-line detector, specifically designed for use in glass melting furnaces, measures distances from the furnace walls to the line of feed and melt separation.  Since the batch line can be continuously monitored, this sensor allows running the furnace at much cooler conditions
(hence saving fuel/energy)

Batch line sensor integrated with 3-D temperature sensor provides a unique system that reduces operational cost due to reduced energy consumption and operator time

EER can customize its products for customer's particular applications as well as develop new custom made products based on individual unique requirements

One such custom-made product is the Flame Image Analyzer (FIA) which was utilized for burner balancing and optimization of a forging two-burner reheat furnace
The furnace operated at its best optimum condition in October 2007 Based on the FIA optimization
The total energy savings of more than 8% is reported by the furnace operator

TEMPERATURE VISION (ITS)
Intelligent Temperature Sensor (ITS) System provides 3-dimensional temperature profiling and flame analysis using visible spectrum of light

ITS provides furnace operational optimization, hence empowering various industries to save energy and reduce pollution while improving product quality

Advantages of EER’s ITS:

  • Capability for temperature measurement using visible spectrum of light hence avoiding infrared camera
  • Capability for 3-D furnace wall temperature profiling
  • Capability for real-time application of Artificial Intelligence to the camera readout thus providing real-time characterization of flames and their related burners and therefore providing real-time feedback to the furnace control system

    MELT VISION SYSTEM
  1. MELT VISION SYSTEM
    MELT VISION SYSTEM
Melt Surface Monitor is designed to monitor the surface of the melt in order to identify any unwanted surface object Melt Level Detector is designed to measure and monitor the height of the liquid melt in a melting furnace (for aluminum industry application) Batch-line sensor can be custom made for a melting glass furnace with a perfect fit to the furnace dimensions EER’s center for artificial Intelligence (CAI) has the unique simulator for custom fitting to the furnace dimension. EER’s 2-D model fitted to a glass furnace is shown in the image
  2. CUSTOM PRODUCTS
    CUSTOM PRODUCTS
EER is ready for customizing its products for customer's particular applications as well as developing new custom made products based on individual unique requirements EER’s technical innovation encompasses integration of Machin vision & AI techniques EER’s advancement of-the state-of-the-art includes image analysis vs spectrometry as well as utilization of visual spectrum of light in image analysis instead of infrared camera imagery
  3. TEMPERATURE VISION
    TEMPERATURE VISION
Intelligent Temperature Sensor (ITS) is packaged as a water-cooled periscope (camera) and the subsequent analysis of the camera image by a computer system benefiting from artificial intelligence and machine vision technology. Installation of ITS on a furnace allows 3-dimensional profiling of the temperature within the furnace in addition to characterization of the flames as well as multi-burner balancing and combustion optimization. This information in turn enables the furnace control system to optimize the fuel consumed by each burner as well as operation at minimum temperature required. This optimization translates into reducing fuel consumption, improving the quality of the product manufactured, and lowering harmful emissions such as CO2 and NOx
